Daycare Payroll – Federal Tax Table Changes

coinsPer IRS Notice 1036 the amount to withhold from payroll checks for U.S. Federal Income Tax has changed effective immediately. The changes also affect the Earned Income Tax Credit. The IRS asks employers to begin using these tables as soon as possible but no later than April 1, 2009.

For those of you using Procare as your Daycare Payroll Software you’ll be pleased to know the changes are available right away by downloading a tax table update.

Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Begin at the main screen of Procare. You’ll need to be signed out to download the file. If you are already signed in then click Sign Out.
  2. Click the Help menu (top of screen) and choose Download Procare Support File.
  3. Enter a download password of TAX9 and click Start.
  4. A second “Installation Password” box will appear. Enter the word “husky” and click Continue.

Your Federal and State tax tables will now be up to date.

The computer we use for ProCare is not connected to the internet. We have other computers that are. How can I download this info for my computer?

  2. Phil Eschtruth Harrison Says:

Nicole – Thanks for your question.

    1. One option is to order a Procare Update from us. You’ll get a new CD with the latest tax tables. Visit the Procare store at http://www.procareonline.com/store/

    2. Another option is to install Procare on a computer that does have internet access. Then follow the steps above to download the tax tables. Make a backup at the internet computer. Then restore just the “Tax Tables” only onto the other computer.

  3. Phil Eschtruth Harrison Says:

As of 4-27-09 the download also includes recent changes to State Tax Tables for California (CA) and Colorado (CO).
